"when i grow up to be a man" (my favorite bad beach boys song).....
"good vibrations" (my favorite good beach boy song)....
a subtle but telling difference between the two. i knew i didn't say it was
my favorite beach boy song, it isn't. its a catchy 50 cent throw away
number (how could i like a song (uber alles) that has the backup vocals
singing "eighteen, nineteen, twenty....."?). don't get me wrong, i do like
it, but its crap. i realize that, hence "my favorite BAD beach boys song".
"good vibrations" (in my humble opinion) is brilliant. varying tempos,
glorious harmonies, several songs looped into one masterpiece. the apogee
of brian wilson's songwriting career.
now, in retrospect, i wish i'd proceeded differently: "when i grow up...."
is probably my second favorite bad beach boys song. number one goes to
"little deuce coup". on the flipside, "god only knows" is my second
favorite good beach boys song (though it doesn't compare to "good
vibrations").
that's all.
goodbye,
mitch

(more) evidence of my nerdiness (oh heaven's):
i checked my recipe book: there's 1) broccoli and cauliflower gratin, 2)
cauliflower and mushroom gougere, 3) parmesan and cauliflower soup, and 4)
spicy potatoes and cauliflower. sound interesting? you can borrow my
recipe book, if you want. i'll try looking for you at the university or
something.
best,

hi:
my afternoon consisted of looking at my notes, sleeping in the library, and
drooling on my arm (in this exact order). wonderful.
...weird. my dad just came into the computer room and gave me a rose to
apologize for being a jackass yesterday. i don't think my dad's ever bought
me a present in his life. further, i can only think of one other time that
i received flowers. i like flowers. ol' dad gets five points.
nice tree. the colours are splendid. it was awfully kind of you to draw me
a picture. i must have a competitive nature, though, because i couldn't
help but try to out-do your picture. i apologize.
(in case you can't tell, mine is an elm tree).
